Shinshe Stony Coffin

Shinshe Stony Coffin is the relic of Eastern Taiwan’s prehistoric culture; it was found along the coasts in Hualien and Taitung, between Shinshe of Hualien and Dulan of Taitung. It is one of two well-preserved stony coffins in Taiwan. The stony coffin dates back to 3000 to 2000 years ago and is an important relic of the Qilin culture. 
Registration Purpose: The stony coffin represents the unique megalith-making technique, which witnessed the Neolithic Age. It shows local cultural characteristic and reflects the feature of the age, aspects which make it truly precious and rare.
