The Official Residence of the Director of Hualien Railway Administration

The architectural style is unique. The yards and the main construction are preserved considerably well, which form a complete cluster with the other wood-framed Japanese style housing quarters surrounded the main building. The front door adopts western colonnades which integrate with traditional wood-framed buildings. The cement tile roofs are still intact and so are the Hinoki boards used in the external walls. This grand official residence is well-preserved. In the middle of the yard, the massive air-raid shelter, the pool landscaping, and underground cement pipelines remain the same. Moreover, the last director of Hualien Railway Administration is still living here. The place is worthy of registering and preserving to serve as a representative construction.
