Hualien Station of the Broadcasting Corporation of China (BCC) (Former Hualien Station of Taiwan Broadcasting Corporation)

Main Historic Building: The main building of the Hualien Station of the BCC, excluding the newly built structures at the back and on the sides
Registration Purpose:

  1. The main structure is over 70 years old, built during the late Japanese Colonial Period. It is a one-story brick and wood building which was used as the Hualien Station. It is an important physical object for Taiwan’s broadcasting history in the Hualien and Taitung areas, and of great historical and cultural value.
  2. Due to the function demands during the operating period, the building underwent numerous renovations and repairs. Although the materials used for the external walls, doors and windows, and the internal decorations differ from the original ones, the appearance of the building is largely maintained.
The area is large and an excellent environment, in which there are many old trees listed and monitored. Neighboring Pine Garden, Chunghwa Telecom and a water purification station, the area has great potential for reuse and new development.
