Ji’an Cross Trail Excavation Memorial

The Cross Trail Excavation Memorial is a basalt stele of 160 centimeters high and 74 centimeters wide.
On Sep. 15th, 1917, the Japanese started to excavate the Neng Gao E. Trail and completed the work on June. 30th, 1918. The trail was 44 kilometers long in total and was named the ‘Neng Gao Cross Trail.’ According to Japanese historic data, the trail started from Chuyin Station, passed ‘Ma-De-Lan Indigenous Village’ along the Mugua River, and climbed around Mt. Tianchang which was 2424 meters high above the sea level, Tongli, Banbian, Qilai Cabin, E. Neng Gao to the border of Hualien County. The trail continued to stretch across Qilai Main Peak which was 2818 meters above the sea level, joined Hehuan Cross Trail in Fushih, and ended in Wushe club. In another word, it is a high spanning road.was 90 kms in total from Chuyin to Wushe.
