SAWALIAN means the east coast in the Amis language. Located at the 66th kilometer of Provincial Highway 11, SAWALIAN is a coastal settlement near the azure Pacific Ocean.
For a long time, the aboriginal culture had lost its tangible and intangible cultural assets such as traditional ceremonies, languages, architecture, crafts and songs under the influence of numerous factors and the era’s atmosphere. However, the efforts of some tribal people led to the rediscovery of local precious cultural assets. Based on the rich cultural connotation, SAWALIAN established a communication platform for people who love aboriginal culture to understand this place more.
Currently, SAWALIAN shares the same platform with the Hualien County Jipuluan Cultural Development Association to show the local cultures in diverse manners.
