Resonance of Stone is a work that integrates spatial installation and land art. Utilizing natural stone from Hualien to construct an immersive space, the artist traces the role of stone in ancient human life as sound, tool, and medium of communication.
Before the development of language, the striking sounds, collisions, and echoes of stones carried the mutual responses between individuals; they were the starting point for communities to gather and share temporal experiences. This work focuses on “how matter and sound shape the relationships between people and the spaces they inhabit.”
Through the arrangement, distance, and weight of the stones, viewers physically navigate a field where the scattered sounds of striking stones suggest traces of past communication. Stone acts as both silent matter and a vessel for memory, pointing toward a shared experience of spatio-temporal exchange. it creates a spatial state that belongs to Hualien while connecting to the collective memory of humanity.
