Nestled at the forefront of the Hualien-Taitung Valley, Guangfu Township in Hualien offers a picturesque view of layer upon layer of mountains, visible even from the district office. Drawing inspiration from this natural canvas, the artwork captures the silhouette of these cascading mountains, mirroring the land's unique texture. The interlocking mountain motifs symbolize the unity and intermingling of the region's diverse ethnic communities.
The art piece is richly infused with local nuances, a nod to the township's vibrant history and culture. Echoes of pigeon pea, a common household plant from yesteryears, merge seamlessly with the representations of local delicacies like “arrow bamboo shoots” and “glutinous rice.” Each totem integrated into the work pays tribute to the bountiful and varied produce of the Hualien-Taitung Valley, celebrating its abundant and diverse yields.
